Visit the first.

So today was the first visit with Dr. Sherara.

Basically, it was a lot of informational stuff. He collected info on what our history was, how many losses, how much time, how old we were, family history of things, medications, etc.

The testing on Monday begins in earnest.

At this point there's a checklist for the things we need to do.

We start with the basics. Monday, husband goes in for a semen analysis, I go in for a basic exam with sonogram and cultures taken. They take a look at the uterus and ovaries to make sure everything's about the right size and shape approximately (further tests will happen later).

From there, we schedule other things.

-Day 3 labs and sonogram - Blood will be drawn on or around cycle day 3 of the menstrual cycle (Estradiol, FSH, LJ, TSH & Prolactin levels). A TV ultrasound will also be performed.
-CCCT - Clomid Challenge Test performed in women over 36, or if the ovaries are noted to be small on ultrasound (day 3). Women with prior poor response to injectible meds will also be candidates. Will need to have labs and sono on day 3 and 10 as well as take clomid for 5 days.
-Day 10 labs and sonogram - Blood will be drawn on or around cycle day 10 of the menstrual cycle (Estradiol, FSH, LJ, TSH & Prolactin levels). A TV ultrasound will also be performed.
-Exam/sono/culture (Monday) - Physical exam will be done and cervical cultures taken.
-HSG (what Dr. Jones wants) - HysteroSalpingoGram is a dye test that checks to see if the fallopian tubes are open or blocked. This is done at the facility or in radiology department at the hospital between cycle days 6-11. It is recommended to take Motrin, Aleve, or Advil 30 minutes prior.
-Sonohysterogram - Saline is injected via catheter into the uterus. Done with an ultrasound machine in the office. Done between cycle days 6-11.
-Hysteroscopy - A catheter is placed through the cervix with a camera to take a look at the inside of the uterus. An endometrial biopsy will usually be done at the same time (I was not checked off for endometrial biopsy). This is done at their facility between cycle days 6-11. Recommended to take Motrin, Aleve, or Advil 30 minutes prior to appointment.

We'll see where we go from here.
